The Blueback herring
The Blueback Herring belongs to the Clupeidae Family. They reach a maximum size of about 40 centimeters and are assumed to live up to 8 years. They spawn from mid-March to the end of May. The male is taller than the female, is iridescent blue and has vertical bars on its tail. The female is smaller and thinner than the male, yellow-brown in color, has a light spot on the dorsal fin and no bars on the tail.
